Day Care Carer for older people. (Wed OR Fri: 9:30-4:00; or possibly half-day)
A Carer will assist Day Care clients while they are at the Centre. This may involve any activity associated with older people. Help in standing/walking; assistance with eating; making sure they are comfortable in their seat; in some cases also toilet assistance. Carers will serve lunch, refreshments, and help clear up afterwards. Essentially, acting as companion for the day. Training is provided, and our clients are generally infirm rather than significantly disabled. MEN as carers are especially welcome, as several clients are male and really do appreciate male company Most current carers do this on a rota basis for a full day, although part-time would be possible and welcomed. Our Mini Bus requires an ESCORT to collect clients from their homers and help them get seated and seat-belted in the mini bus. This may involve helping to walk, and locking doors etc. MEN carers are especially welcome, as the escort has to open/close the minibus doors and operate the steps/lift, although ladies do this perfectly easily too This position could be morning only, or afternoon only; or could be matched to one of our drivers as a transport team. The Day Care Mini Bus is a 14-seat vehicle formerly a hospital patient transport minibus. It is very easy to drive, although the driver MUST have category D1 permit included on their licence (most people who pass their test before about 1990 have this) The driver must be under 70 years old. Coffee Morning, or baking (Thursday, 10:00-12:00)
The Drop-In Cafe-Style Coffee-Morning is an important fund-raiser AND meeting point. We are looking for people who would be willing to come along on occasion and help serve tea, coffee and superb cakes to our customers and supporters. And / Or, undertake to donate interesting cakes, scones, pancakes, meringues, millionaire-shortbread, tablet even (I think that includes all my favourites) either by home-baking or sourced commercially.
